And they wonder why Social Security is in trouble

Social Security is in enough trouble and then you read an article in the Chicago Tribune House wants hearings on immigration. I couldn't believe what I was reading. It seems that some of the old boys on the hill seem to think that it isn't enough to offer amnesty and citizenship to illegal immigrants but there is one provision in the Senate bill, if passed, that would allow immigrants to collect Social Security for the years when they lacked authorization to work. This bill would even include those who illegally used Social Security numbers that belonged to U. S. citizens or legal residents in order to obtain jobs. See Chicago Tribune http://tinyurl.com/zmfag

This is just one of the provisions in the bill that our Ostrich President is trying to get passed while in office. He really wants to leave the office as a president with a legacy.......well, is there any doubt???

Forgotten Heros . . . .

Why is it that everyone in the country knows more about Brad and Angelina's baby than they do about our soldiers fighting for our country?

Everyone can tell you all the info about the birth of their baby but can they give you the name of one soldier. Only the families of those who have loved ones in Iraq know their names because we seem to be a country consumed on the idols of Hollywood and what is going on in their life. I bet if you were to stop 10 people on the street and ask them if they know who Jennifer Aniston is 10 out of 10 will without a doubt know, but if you ask them to name someone fighting in Iraq, 1 out of 10 might know someone and only because it would be a family member or a friend of a family, etc. Why, because the media has thought it more important to give more airtime for Hollywood gossip than to devote enough time to give a daily update of names of these brave men who are over there fighting, instead, they feed into what seems to be of more interest to the people.

Compare the number of magazines you see with stores about Hollywood gossip as opposed to American is Iraq. To think the amount of money that people paid to get the first pictures of Brad and Angelina's baby is outrageous. The money could have gone to help the hurricane victims here in our country. I know they say they are going to use the money to the charity of their choice but that charity is not one that is located in our country. That goes back to my original blast, Charity begins at home!!!! Does anyone agree with me or am I out on a limb here by myself.

I say let's hear it for our soldier and let Hollywood take a backseat for once.

Today's government

I am so tired of our nation's politicians. They are not looking out for anyone but themself. I think anyone on the hill should only be allowed to serve a limited term and not a life time. The way it is now we have a stagnant senate and congress. Some are so old they can hardly hear, let alone walk unassisted. They spend precious time voting on less important issues such as whether to allow same sex marriages which has nothing to do with the economy of our nation. Maybe it is me but I wish they would spend their efforts more into the helping their own. We have far too many people on welfare who speak English and are American citizens who need help yet we seem to offer that help to foreigh countries first. My thinking is, if you can't speak English, then you can't vote, period !!!

We have a great country, it is just that the people on the hill are in such a land of their own. They don't have to worry about income, insurance, etc so there is no reality check for them. They have no idea what it is like to get sick and have no way of getting help, being denied insurance, having to go through a Health Department, etc. They wouldn't last one day if they had to face that. They have never had to choose between medicine and food.

I know I'm rambling here but I am so frustrated with what I see and the sad thing is I don't see any change in the structure for the future.

Home Depot - Where the hell do I live????

Yep, it has finally happened, my fellow Americans. After writing my blog about what country am I in reality struck home......as in Home Depot. My husband and I were in the local Home Depot where we live as we were in the process of ordering flooring for our house and in order to take advantage of their wonderful discount which was available by opening a store credit account we took them up on that offer. The salesperson politely handed us the application and as we started to fill it out we sat there dumbstruck. What in the world was this? It was an application alright but wait a minute, shouldn't it be in english? Were we not in Florida? We only had driven 3 miles and yet here they had handed us an application in Spanish with English as an option.

NEED I SAY MORE !!!!!!

AND THE BUSHES AIN'T HELPIN !!!!!!

You know, I wake up each morning wondering which country I am really in. I know I used to be in America. A country that was founded on faith, the language was English and the government was by the people and for the people. Now I wake up and check the morning paper and yes, it is still the same one I have been getting over the past 44 years since moving to Florida. The name is the same but the news is totally different.

The once faith built country I now read that people are trying to now take the faith out of everything from coins to schools to our every being.

The once English speaking country has now become one of many languages because people who come to "the land of plenty" now demand that their language be spoken as well rather than learning the language of the country. I wonder if we all moved to France and demanded they all speak our language if they would be so giving. Don't get me wrong, I welcome everyone to our country I just don't see why they refuse to learn our language. Why must our ballots be in more that one language. When I buy a product it now takes me forever to find the directions and info in English!!

We have become a country where someone cries discrimination we bow to their every whim. We have stripped ourselves of everything our country was founded on to appease others.

Speaking of appeasing others, there is another thorn. We are always the first in to aide other countries, why is it so hard to be first in to aide our own. The disasters this year from hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma were horrible to say the least and where were we.

  • Why is it that we were able to reach the Tsunami victims faster than we could reach our own?
  • Why do we have so many senior citizens and disabled citizens who have to wait and beg for disability hearings to get government aid?

I love my country, I just want it back !!!!!! That includes my state of Florida where our dear governor, little Jebber Bush feels the need to show off his non-fluent speaking spanish now and then. Last I checked Florida was still part of the USA and not a Latin country..........woe is me

"Lions, Tigers and Bush Oh My"

Just when I think President Bush can't possibly top his blunders, dubya never ceases to disappoint me.

I don't begrudge him nominating his candidate for the supreme court be it John Roberts or King Tut, he has that right, but to nominate him now to replace the Chief Justice just shows how lame he is. To think a new kid on the block would be brought in as head of a court they haven't even been a member of is the worse possible judgment I can think of, but then again, why should I be surprised, after all this is dubya making the call. Our government is not looking good as it is and junior continues to make it look worse each day!!

What a fair and just government we have?? Wow, we try to teach our children the importance of being honest and fair and then we have our leaders doing just the opposite. What message is our government sending? I'm sure we now have the attention of the other countries and have been a great comedy relief.

If only there were mirrors in the White House, but then am sure they wouldn't get used.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you !!!!
Ouch, that's gotta hurt to think about doesn't it junior???

New limit on drugs may hurt ill poor !!!!!

OrlandoSentinel.com: State News
"The state is forcing Medicaid mental-health patients to try the cheapest medicines first"

As a senior citizen residing in the state of Florida it is such a comfort knowing that the state is more interested in saving money than it's citizens. I have always said if I had to rely on the government for help I'd be a dead duck.........looks like that is going to be a statement that will come true.

For some reason I seem to be living in a country that brags about what a great country this is, and I do agree, the country is great, the government stinks.

They look out for the rich and forget about the poor. A robin hood they aren't, actually just the opposite.

They take from the poor to benefit the rich. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture?

If so, please let me know and point out what I am missing.
